Isle of Wight-born Dr John Sichel FRCP studied medicine at The Middlesex Hospital, qualifying in 1975

He has been based at GPs surgeries in Oxford, one of which he ran with his wife, Dr Diana FergusonFor nearly 25 years, Dr Sichel worked at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, at Oxford University Hospitals' Churchill Hospital. 

 For three decades, he was the physician for Oxford University's Hertford College and New College and, for over 20 years, at Oxford University Boat ClubDr Sichel was elected FRCP in 2008.  Most recently, he specialised in diabetes at Nuffield Health's The Manor Hospital, as well as working as an NHS locum. 

 Dr Sichel has enjoyed nearly 30 years working with a philanthropic organisation called the Merchant Taylors’ Company. Dr Sichel is a trustee of the Walter Bigg Foundation, linked to Oxford's Wallingford School.

Dr Sichel and Dr Ferguson have a home in the West Wight.  The couple have two children and are awaiting the arrival of their sixth grandchild.  

He joined the board in July 2024.
